Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas

I know some of you have yet to begin your Christmas shopping and are looking for some suggestions. As usual, I can hook you up with that odd, unique, and different type of gift. Unless you are willing to drive to the manufacturer today, then these items will probably not arrive until after Christmas Day.

Festivus for the Rest of Us: Are you like Frank Costanza? Had enough of Christmas' commercialism? Want to do something about it? December 23 is Festivus Day. Using a very high strength-to-weight ratio aluminum pole as the centerpiece, family and friends gather around for the airing of grievances. Once the airing is complete, Festivus cannot end until a guest and the host participate in the feats of strength portion of the celebration.

The Wagner Company in Milwaukee is currently working overtime to produce the 6' aluminum Festivus poles. "We did it mainly as a lark. We never looked at it as a tremendous moneymaking scheme," said Tony Leto, the firm's executive vice president of sales and marketing. "But in many ways, Festivus is taking on a life of its own." It can be yours for $38 plus shipping. Be sure to checkout the Wagner Company link for more detailed information - you won't regret it!

The Leg Lamp - A Major Award: You know what I'm talking about! Don't deny it. A quick googling of the web will present you with numerous one-stop sites for buying this prized treasure, but don't buy a cheap imported "Knock Off" - get the real thing.

Leg-Lamp.com, a.k.a. the LegLampFactory, provides for all your leg shopping needs. Their extensive portfolio offers something for everyone. Want the classic 26 incher? How about the deluxe 53" model? They even have a Major Award Certificate and Action Figures. Instructions for assembly and placement of the lamp (in front of the main window, of course) are included. For an extra charge, an authentic wooden box with the French word Fragile can be yours too. Don't delay - go now.

A Christmas Story House: While you are still admiring that Major Award, don't forget to plan your visit to the house on Cleveland Street made famous by the movie! Yes, the actual house showcased in the film A Christmas Story is now available for tours.

The house was purchased on eBay by Brian Jones in December 2004 for $150,000. Jones, an avid fan of the movie and a U.S. Naval Academy graduate, was looking for another career after his dreams of becoming a naval pilot were stopped by his less than perfect vision. An opportunity arose to purchase the house and he didn't hesitate to pounce on the deal.

He has spent the last 2 years renovating and building support for his project. Finally, in November the house opened with a grand celebration. The project, which has had support from numerous actors in the movie, is open through Christmas Eve. Start now and you can be there tomorrow! Be sure to visit the website.

I know you and your family would be proud to display it. I would recommend that you setup a live web cam so that folks on the blog could check it out anytime that they wanted!
